GHK-Cu und MMP-2: Matrixremodellierung in Fibroblastenkulturen
Evidence level: cell study.
Research question
Can GHK-Cu influence the production of MMP-2? This enzyme is involved in the breakdown and renewal of the extracellular matrix.
Research model
The researchers studied cultured dermal fibroblasts. They examined the synthesis of MMP-2 after exposure to GHK-Cu.
What was found?
The study reported stimulation of MMP-2 expression. The finding therefore concerns matrix remodeling, and not exclusively the formation of new connective tissue.
Limitations and interpretation
A change in an enzyme in cell culture does not prove improved skin quality in humans. The effect is associated with the specific cell culture and experimental conditions.
